US Airways Flight 1549 from LaGuardia airport made an emergency water landing onto the Hudson River minutes after takeoff at 3:03PM, and all 155 on board were rescued and well. The Airbus A320 was headed towards Charlotte, North Carolina, when it reportedly flew into a flock of birds, possibly Canada geese, and lost both engines as a result. There are many heroes today: Captain C.B. "Sully" Sullenberger and his co-pilot who safely landed the plane and walked up and down the aisles to make sure no passengers were left behind; the three flight attendants who directed the evacuation of the passengers; the commuter ferries and boats that responded immediately to the scene and started rescuing the passengers out of the water; and the NYPD, FDNY, Port Authority and Coast Guard. I am relieved and happy to hear that everyone on-board is okay.
